Research Question

How can I design narrative in game design using [methods] to engage the player emotionally?

Reflection

The concepts of narrative and emotion are far too broad. My first step should be to break down these two concepts and try to expand on my question by adding more to it, thus, making it more specific, such as sound design.

Update

How can I use sound design and interactive narrative in a game to emotionally engage the player?

Reflection

What kind of sounds do I need to use? What is it about the sound design that needs to be communicated to the player? To emotionally engage the player with what? The narrative? The game?

Update

If games tell stories through visuals and interactive gameplay, how can I design a game using ludic and narrative sounds, in unison with the core gameplay, to emotionally engage the player in the tone/mood of a game?

Reflection

There are a lot of undefined elements in this question and more research will be needed in order to define this question. Another approach could be finding a statement you don't agree with and apply your research as a solution? In film its summarised that; visuals are information and sound is emotion. But sound can be information too in the game space and visuals can be emotive.
